Many anglers are already gearing up for the coming Fishing Season with boats being serviced, fishing gear being upgraded and plenty of terminal tackle being purchased in readiness for what we are expecting to be an awesome Fishing Bonanza. ANDERSONS INLET - Following on from our report last week on Andersons Inlet, Graham returned last Saturday but found conditions completely different with large amounts of dirty freshwater flushing through the system from the Tarwin River. The salmon had all but disappeared and none were caught.
Under these conditions, the schools of salmon often move outside the inlet to feed on baitfish, milling around the interface of dirty estuary water and clear saltwater.
However, Hayden and Sandra worked hard on Saturday and managed a few good fish. Trevally and salmon on pippies and berleyed up 12 good sized mullet from the jetty. On Sunday they found the water had cleared, and a few salmon were near the mouth on low tide. They caught 4 on Gillies 25gm Blue Baitfish lures and saw many other anglers catching salmon as well.
TAMBO RIVER - Ian Stansfield caught 5 bream to 32cm. at the rough road on the Tambo River. Best bait was peeled prawn. There were a lot of undersized bream caught and released.
LAKE EILDON is at 45.1% capacity with incoming water at 16800megs. and outgoing at 430megs. being released into the Goulburn River. The Eildon Pondage is currently at 32%.
